I’m listening to the episode of podcast “Navigating Narcissism with Dr. Ramani” where the host interviews a woman who was married to a narcissist, and it’s actually alarming how many traits her ex husband shares with Jordy and how similar the relationships are.
- This woman was wowed by how kind and thoughtful the guy was —- she described him as the most kind man she had ever known. He hung on her every word and was interested to know absolutely everything about her. Like he was trying to keep a mental inventory of every detail of her life. How often did Michel describe Jordy as being the kindest, most thoughtful man she had ever met?
- The woman said that, on their first date, when they barely knew each other, he planned this extravagant, long date for her, filled with tons of surprises that basically left her at his mercy to be able to get home —- at one point, he drove her to some isolated place that was pitch dark and she had no idea where she even was. On Michel’s first date with Jordy, he PLANNED a 16-hour date, 8-stop date for two of them. This was after maybe a couple weeks of them chatting on the phone.
- There was extreme lovebombing right from the start from both these men. The woman interviewed said that, in the first week of after they met, he bought her expensive gifts. He would organize outings for her where he arranged everything and she just needed to show up —— it was a way to keep tabs on her while making himself look like a romantic. On the first date, Jordy arranged privately with one of Michel’s friends to have a special bouquet of flowers made for her. He got her that $400 top after a few weeks of dating. Shortly into their relationship, he would arrange dates for her to go on where he had taken care of all the details. When she was sick early on, he sent her money for food and called her neighbors to have them help her with her groceries and stuff. There’s him serenading her each night from stage so that she’d need to be by her phone at a time of his choosing. There’s him saying that he actually likes that she is divorced (anyone else with have just said they don’t care about her divorce status but he made it seem as though he prefers it).
- Both men picked women who were the opposite of them —- women who were empathetic enough that they’d always be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt when they behaved badly and forgive them.
I’m sure I’m forgetting stuff but that’s kind of the gist. I think Michel, her family and her fans just think Jordy’s a super romantic guy who loves making grand gestures for Michel, but in reality, this really was never normal behavior and should have made her think twice about getting involved with him.
